Last week on Christmas day Stephanie Pazmino, 30, was apprehended by authorities after allegedly stabbing a transgender black male by the name of Ijan DaVonte Jarrett, 44, in a New York City subway after the man allegedly offered up his seat.
On Tuesday the woman appeared in a New York City courtroom. Speaking through her attorney Elsie Chandler Pazmino claims she “acted only in self-defense” after the alleged victim “tried to take out her eyes with his nails and fingers.”
Driving the point home the attorney pointed to her clients right eye where there was a small marking.
“This was an unfortunate incident on the subway at Christmas time where lots of people lose their tempers,” stated Chandler
According to reports Pazmino is homeless and lives in a shelter for women with mental issues.
Pazmino bail was set at $4,000 cash/ $7,500 bond. She faces charges of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon for her attack on Ijan DaVonte Jarrett.
Jarret was slashed with a “sharp object used for cleaning fingernails,” criminal reports indicates.
Report say Jarret was on his way home after having a long day at work in a New Jersey hair salon when he offered up his seat for Pazmino to sit.
Even though the woman refused to take the seat Jarret got up from his seat to allow Pazmino to seat next to her companion who had boarded the train with her.
When the women’s were about to exit the train, Pazmino suddenly attacked Jarret, stabbing him in the face and arms several times.
