A thug opened fire inside the vehicle of an elderly woman and her grandson who were on their way to a shopping trip.
The perpetrator apparently shot into the vehicle because he thought the woman “wasn’t moving fast enough at a stop sign,” according to officials.
The incident took place in southwest Little Rock while the grandmother stopped at a stop sign when the perpetrator exited his vehicle and began discharging his weapon into the stationed car and striking the child.
The woman accelerated the vehicle escaping with her life. She dialed 911 once she reached a shopping mall.
When the authorities arrived at the shopping mall they located the grandmother and her grandson in front of JCPenny. The child was then taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injury.
According to authorities it did not seem the woman and grandson had any connections with the assailant. It happened to be something random.
Police Lt. Steve McClanahan stated that the victim just happened to be “driving the car and was taking her grandson shopping when the incident occurred .”
The description of the vehicle police are looking for is an older model, black Chevrolet Impala. No other information has been revealed concerning the incident and authorities are asking the public for help.
Authorities say these killings of children’s are frustrating because the victims “can do very little to protect themselves.”
Just last month a two year old toddler was gunned down when an individual drove by her car firing his weapon inside the vehicle. Law enforcement have still to make an arrest in that incident as well.
“We cannot have a community to where the least protected among us, being infants, who are dying these senseless crimes in our city,” stated Police Chief Kenton Buckner.
