Ken Blackwell, one of Donald Trump’s transition team member has recently stated that being gay is a choice and connected mass shooting to what he says is the nations approval of same-sex legal unions.
Blackwell political background include, former Secretary of state as well as the state’s first black Republican candidate for governor in Ohio. He was just assigned by President-elect Donald Trump to direct domestic matters in his presidential transition team, reports say.
On an interview with The Columbus Dispatch in 2006, Blackwell stated that “homosexuality is a lifestyle…a choice,”which,”can be changed.”
“I think you make good choices and bad choices in terms of lifestyle. Our expectation is that one’s genetic makeup might make one more inclined to be an arsonist or….more inclined to be a kleptomaniac,” he says.
While on another interview in 2008,Blackwell was asked to elaborate on his thoughts relating to homosexuality and he stated, “people choose to be who they are, as they choose to break civil law and God’s law…I think you can choose not to be homosexual.”
“And so I think in fact you don’t have to give in to the compulsion to be homosexual. I think that’s been proven in case after case after case,” He adds.
Blackwell then stated in 2014 that the mass shooting which occurred in California was the results of America’s approval of same -sex marriages, and the event which unfolded was caused by, “the crumbling of the moral foundation of the country.”
Now that Trump has been elected to be the next president of the United States, LGBTQ advocates are worried the Republican party will retaliate for their strong support for the Democratic party, and with Blackwell now heading Trump’s domestic policy they are more fearful.
